Lead Therapist Dietitian

Based at the Aintree site you will work alongside an existing Lead Therapist, managing operations for the Dietetic and First Response Team as part of the Aintree Inpatient Therapy Service. You will work 0.6 WTE and report to the Head Therapist leading Aintree Inpatient Services.

This post is open to registered Dietitians with experience in clinical leadership and nutrition support. The role involves managing a small caseload of complex nutrition support patients and leadership duties.

Note: this role is for 0.8 WTE (30 hours per week)


Main duties of the job

* As a member of the leadership team, you will work alongside other Therapies Leads, Professional Leads and Team Leaders, supported by the Therapies Senior Leadership Team and the Divisional Director of AHPs.
* Implement quality improvement initiatives and support evidence‑based care delivery.
* Ensure engagement and empowerment of a diverse workforce through a coaching approach.
* Address difficult operational issues, ensuring policy implementation and performance management.
* Demonstrate commitment to the Trust values, creating a supportive and open culture.

Job responsibilities

* Collaborate with Therapies Leads and the Senior Leadership Team to manage operational plans and performance.
* Drive quality, safety and standard of care within the Dietetic and First Response Team.
* Provide coaching and mentorship to Band 7 Clinical AHPs and other staff.
* Lead patient‑centred clinical and AHP operational strategy, ensuring compliance with legislation and governance.
* Communicate key messages with staff and stakeholders, facilitating two‑way communication.
* Support the implementation of policy and plans to achieve the clinical strategy.
* Manage financial controls and budget responsibilities effectively.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Clinical Professional Qualification: degree level or equivalent.
* Significant post‑registration professional development; masters pursued.
* Post‑graduate or equivalent management or training qualification.
* Evidence of leadership development.


Experience

* Extensive experience as a clinical manager with responsibility for clinical quality, people management, budget and performance targets.
* Ability to maintain high standards of care and team management over time.


Knowledge

* Understanding of national NHS policy, regulatory policy and local changes affecting AHPs.
* Awareness of diversity and inclusion principles.
* Knowledge of financial, management and workforce information systems.
* Familiarity with governance arrangements and NHS standards.


Skills

* Problem‑solving and influencing abilities.

£55,690 to £62,682 a year pro rata.
