Trainee Drug and Alcohol Practitioner Location: Hull Salary: £18,601.18 per annum Vacancy Type: 12 month Contract, Part Time Closing Date: 3rd November 2025 Please note this is a 12 month contract, this is a part-time role 28 hours per week About the Role Are you passionate about helping others and developing a rewarding career in drug and alcohol recovery services? Were offering a unique Traineeship opportunity to join our team as a Trainee Drug and Alcohol Practitioner. As part of this traineeship, youll receive hands-on experience working alongside experienced professionals, gaining valuable insight into the role. Youll shadow a member of the team who will provide ongoing guidance, mentoring, and support, ensuring you receive the training and development needed to become fully competent in the role. Youll have regular reviews to help you stay on track to successfully complete the traineeship and the compulsory therapy and qualification components (subject to eligibility criteria). Your time will be split between practical work-based learning and studying towards a nationally recognised qualification. Key Responsibilities Through tailored training, supervision, and mentoring, you will develop skills in: Planning and managing your own caseload effectively Reviewing ongoing care and liaising with healthcare and partner agencies Co-facilitating groups and programmes to required standards Working within a multi-disciplinary and integrated team Collecting and recording data for audit, research, and reporting purposes Carrying out assessments (risk, initial, comprehensive) to inform individual treatment journeys Delivering 1:1 sessions and facilitating group work/programmes Supporting service users in developing and achieving recovery plans Gaining competency to carry out the second signatory process Undertaking other reasonable duties as required by line management About You To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate: If in recovery from addiction: a minimum of 2 years abstinence from all substances and a strong commitment to maintaining recovery (Essential, if applicable) A strong understanding of the needs of vulnerable adults in recovery, including those with experience of offending or homelessness An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities and client confidentiality The ability to manage your workload effectively and meet deadlines and targets A clear sense of professional boundaries and the ability to maintain them Excellent organisational and communication skills A commitment to completing a nationally recognised qualification About Us We are The Forward Trust, the social enterprise with charitable status that empowers people to break the often interlinked cycles of crime and addiction to move forward with their lives.
