We have a key operational opportunity for an Estates Deputy Facilities Manager to join the Estates Services team at Daresbury Laboratory, who will have responsibility for the following in house teams:
* Security (in-house).
* Logistics (in-house).


The role holder will support the Estates Facilities Manager with the management of the following contracted services, deputising during their absence, along with the management of a resource budget of circa £1m per annum and a typical capital budget of up to £300k.
* Cleaning services.
* Waste management.
* Fitness and wellbeing centre.


In addition to your day-to-day management responsibilities, the role holder will:
* Identify projects, processes and systems to further embed environmental sustainability and carbon reduction within all activities and operations.
* Complete operational risk assessments and standard operating procedures for all facilities services.
* Plan for succession and business continuity, including the structured development of those reporting directly to you, ensuring that they are capable of deputising in your absence, and maximising their career opportunities.
* Actively engage customers - identifying their current and future service needs, assessing current resource capability, and translating into service enhancement proposals.
* Provide timely and accurate management information (MI) and data for inclusion in scheduled and ad-hoc management reports.
* Respond to emergency business continuity incidents which may occur during out-of-hours periods.
* Role model STFC values, attitude and behaviour to help embed and further develop a positive customer-centric culture within Estates Services.
* Actively engage in your own professional development through the STFC career development framework.


Essential Shortlisting Criteria

You will have supervisory or managerial experience in a facilities management role, ideally within a science, engineering or higher education sector or a level of education equivalent to HND/NVQ Level 5 in Facilities Management or other relevant discipline and along with the following desirable attributes:
* IOSH Managing Safely / NEBOSH General Certificate.
* Institute of Leadership and Management Level 3.
* NVQ/City Guilds Level 2 Customer Services.
* Introduction to the NEC4 Facilities Management Contract or experience of managing contracts.
