Our client is a specialist in the design and development of innovative automotive lighting systems. As part of their ongoing growth and investment in future technologies, they are expanding their technical team and are seeking an experienced Electronics Design Engineer to join their collaborative, fast-paced environment.
This is a hands-on role where creativity, technical ownership, and delivery excellence are highly valued. You will work on cutting-edge LED lighting systems from concept through prototype, validation, and production, supporting global OEM and Tier 1 customers.

MondayThursday: 08:30 17:00
Friday: 08:30 14:00

Are you the right person for the job?
You may be a strong fit if you:
Have a degree in Electronics or Software Engineering
Experience in automotive or high-reliability electronics product development
Experience in embedded software development
Are skilled in PCB design (schematic capture and layout) using Altium Designer
Understand analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design
Have hands-on experience with oscilloscope, power supply, logic analyser, and SMD soldering (IPC J-STD-001)
Have embedded firmware development experience in C (Microchip PIC, MPLAB X IDE, PICKIT4, Microchip Studio)
Are confident in automotive validation processes, design for manufacture, BOM management, and issue tracking
Are fluent in spoken and written English and hold a full UK driving licence
Preferred candidates may also have:
Automotive lighting design experience
Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay)
Experience with Python, C++, Git, Subversion
Familiarity with MISRA standards and AUTOSAR principles
Experience with thermal simulation tools (e.g., Fusion 360) and PCB thermal management
Knowledge of homologation, ECE/SAE lighting regulations, type approval, and EMC testing
What will your role look like?
Electronics Design & Development
Analyse customer technical requirements and liaise with client engineering teams
Create and maintain electronic designs including schematic capture, PCB layout, and BOM definition
Design analog and digital circuits and integrate systems within vehicle architecture
Support prototype builds, hands-on debugging, and component/system-level testing
Develop embedded firmware for microcontroller applications
Validation & Compliance
Contribute to DVP&R, DFMEA, and thermal simulation of PCBs and assemblies
Support ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and APQP/PPAP-related documentation
Take ownership of assigned workstreams with clear project documentation
Collaboration & Customer Liaison
Work closely with CAD, optical, thermal, and software engineers
Attend customer and supplier meetings in the UK and abroad as required
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
Apply creative, cost-effective solutions to technical challenges
Contribute to process improvements and knowledge sharing within the team
