Job Title: Fuel Shop Technician Location: Near Burton Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am - 4:00pm | Friday, 7:00am - 1:00pm Contract: Temporary to Permanent (likely to go permanent) Weekly Hours: 40 hours per week We are looking for a skilled Fuel Shop Technician to join our team near Burton. Reporting to the Fuel Shop Team Supervisor, you will work on diesel engines and fuel system components, including fuel pumps and injectors. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with solid mechanical knowledge and a proactive, problem-solving approach. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel system issues during engine testing Install, repair, and inspect fuel systems and components Audit and maintain test equipment for fuel pump and injector testing Carry out routine and preventative maintenance Record and report results from fuel pump and injector tests Support the team and assist with other related duties as needed Person Specification Background & Experience: Good knowledge of fuel system components, calibration, and phasing of fuel pumps Experience conducting bench tests and producing technical reports Previous experience in the rail or automotive sectors is preferred Able to work independently and as part of a team Qualifications: Recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ Level 3 preferred Skills & Attributes: Self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude Organised, structured, and reliable Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail Good vision and ability to distinguish colours Physical Requirements: Comfortable working in a busy, hands-on environment Capable of manual handling of heavy loads Confident using vibrating tools and equipment
