The Registered Nurse:
•Provides nursing care to OR patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
•Enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers
•Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice
•Maintains and advances own clinical competence
•Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned
This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions. Shifts of work will be scheduled days and evenings; rotating from 07:00 to 15:00, 07:30 to 15:30, 08:30 to 16:30, 09:30 to 17:30, 11:15 to 18:45, 08:30 to 17:00 hours.
About this location/unit:
Kootenay Lake Hospital’s Operating Room Department has two OR theatres functional Monday to Friday. Types of procedures include: Endoscopy, Major Obs/Gyne, Dental, Ophthalmology/Cataracts, minor Ortho, and minor General Surgery. Up to nine Operating Room RNs circulate/scrub, including a float nurse plus a RN is Daycare Surgery and PAR. The hospital has a strong Obs/Gyne program supported by 24/7 on-call operating room capacity.
