Role: EMS / Power Systems Application Engineer

About the Role:
* We’re currently partnering with a leading client in the energy and utilities sector to hire an EMS / Power Systems Application Engineer. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Power System Applications, supporting real-time generation and grid operations across global utility clients.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, maintain, and support Power System Applications such as Automatic Generation Control (AGC), Load Frequency Control, Load Forecasting, Economic Dispatch, Power Flow, State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, and Operator Training Simulator (OTS).
* Provide hands on support and customization on GE PowerOn Reliance (XA21) and/or AEMS/GDC platforms, as well as other major EMS systems (Siemens, OSI, ABB, Schneider, etc.).
* Configure, optimize, and administer the Energy Management System (EMS) including security patching, system tuning, and performance improvement.
* Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, including debugging, code review, deployment, and monitoring of patches or modifications.
* Work with Linux and Windows environments, performing OS level configuration and maintenance.
* Utilize communication protocols (IEC 60870-5-101/104, DNP3, Modbus, ICCP, OPC) for system integration.
* Manage and query relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server).
* Develop and maintain scripts or integrations using C, C++, PERL, or similar programming languages.
* Perform live system fixes with a focus on minimal downtime and maximum reliability.
Required Skills & Experience:
* 5+ years of experience in Power System Applications (Generation) and EMS environments.
* Strong understanding of real-time systems and mission-critical environments.
* Proficiency in Linux/Windows OS, SQL, and shell scripting.
* Experience with GitHub/ClearCase or equivalent configuration management tools.
* Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-resolution skills.
* Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and client teams.
* Strong communication and analytical abilities.
