The Opportunity

Peterborough is a rapidly growing hub for the civil service, environmental technology, and regional logistics. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to join a fast-paced business operations team. In this role, you are the organizational glue that keeps the department running smoothly—ensuring that data is accurate, communication is seamless, and the office remains a productive environment for the entire team.

* You will be based in a modern office environment, providing essential clerical support to the Senior Management Team (SMT) and department leads.

Core Responsibilities

1. Data Management: Accurately inputting and updating records on the company’s internal database, ensuring all information is kept secure and compliant with GDPR.

2. First Point of Contact: Managing the general inbox and switchboard, filtering inquiries, and redirecting them to the appropriate team members with professional speed.

3. Meeting Coordination: Organizing schedules, booking meeting rooms via digital calendars, and assisting in the preparation of agendas and briefing packs.

4. Document Control: Drafting professional correspondence, formatting reports, and maintaining an organized digital and physical filing system.

5. Operational Logistics: Monitoring office supplies, coordinating with external vendors (such as couriers or maintenance), and assisting with the onboarding paperwork for new staff.

The Successful Candidate We are looking for an individual who takes pride in "the details" and stays calm when the workload builds up. Requirements include:

* Experience: Previous experience in an administrative or office-based role is preferred, though we welcome motivated candidates from retail or hospitality backgrounds who possess strong transferable skills.

* Tech Proficiency: Confident use of the Microsoft Office Suite—particularly Excel for data entry and Outlook for complex calendar management.

* Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high standard of spelling and grammar.

* Work Ethic: A high level of discretion when handling sensitive information and a proactive approach to solving minor office bottlenecks before they become issues.
