Linux Engineer – Porton Down - On-site – Full TimeDay rate: £450 - £500 p/d Outside IR35
Contract: 6 months (possible extension)
Location: Porton Down, Salisbury (On-site, 5 days a week)
Clearance: DV Clearance preferable
Start: ASAPWe are seeking an experienced Linux Engineer to join our client's team on a 6-month contract in Salisbury. This role is fully on-site and will lead the setup of a standalone, air-gapped network within a lab environment.The role will involve:
1. Leading on the design and strategy for the target network.
2. Configuring and deploying ~20 servers and workstations.
3. Integrating legacy hardware model servers from an old DSI network into the existing Linux standalone network.
4. Working with and adapting the lab’s standalone infrastructure to create a newbined network.
5. Designing, proposing, and implementing improvements in:
Linux software updates and workstation configuration.
User account/domain configuration.
Shared filesystems.
Browser-based software management tools.
6. Producing clear documentation and records to ensure smooth ongoing maintenance.

7. Strong hands-on experience with Linux, networking, and domain management.
8. Proven ability to configure, integrate, and deploy servers/workstations.
9. Experience within secure/defence or lab-based environments (desirable).
10. Excellent problem-solving and documentation skills.
