Application Support Engineer (Part-Time Contract)
Location: Swansea (Onsite)
Contract Type: Part-Time Contract
Working Pattern: 4 hours per day, 3 days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
The Opportunity
We’re currently recruiting for an Application Support Engineer to join an onsite lab-based technical team supporting critical applications and systems. This is a fantastic opportunity for an entry-level or early-career IT professional with Level 1 helpdesk experience to gain hands-on exposure across application support, infrastructure, and networking in a structured environment.
You’ll play a key role in supporting Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), maintaining system reliability, and assisting with ongoing network and infrastructure activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical support for applications and systems
* Support and maintain Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
* Monitor system and application performance
* Assist with network upgrades and infrastructure changes
* Carry out routine maintenance activities
* Handle incidents and service requests via ticketing systems
* Work closely with the onsite lab and IT teams
Required Skills &; Experience
* Level 1–2 support or helpdesk background
* Networking knowledge including:
o Patch management
o IP address management
o DHCP / DNS
* Experience with:
o Active Directory and Group Policy
o Windows Server
o Linux environments
* Comfortable working onsite in a technical/lab setting
Candidate Profile
* Based in or able to commute to Swansea
* Experience working in medium to large organisations
* Healthcare sector experience desirable (not essential)
* Reliable, proactive, and keen to develop technical skills
