Your Mission:
As a Lead Principal Engineer within the SSNA Platform Mechanical Integrated Delivery Team (IDT), you will be at the forefront of a dynamic submarine program. Your leadership will be crucial in delivering engineering excellence across multiple systems. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
* Lead the delivery of engineering scope, ensuring quality and timely outputs across design, integration, and qualification.
* Oversee technical ownership of mechanical systems, ensuring compliance and effective collaboration.
* Produce engineering artifacts, including documentation and simulations.
* Manage task allocation and progress tracking using structured tools like Jira and Confluence.
* Coach and support engineers at all levels, fostering growth and confidence.
* Collaborate with peers, suppliers, and stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain momentum.
* Review technical documentation and manage change control with sound engineering judgment.
* Proactively identify and address delivery shortfalls, promoting a culture of improvement and accountability.
Your Skills and Experiences:
We’re looking for a confident leader who can mentor others and contribute to a collaborative culture. You should have:
* A proven track record in delivering complex mechanical or multi-disciplinary engineering tasks in a regulated environment.
* Experience in mentoring or coaching engineers for technical and professional growth.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to lead discussions and build strong relationships.
* The ability to collaborate effectively across various functions.
* Familiarity with task and documentation management tools like Jira and Confluence.
* Progress towards or already holding professional registration (CEng preferred).
* A STEM-related degree (or equivalent experience) with a strong foundation in systems thinking and platform-level integration.
