Contract Type: Temporary until 31 March 2027

The Role:

As a Family Practitioner, you’ll play a key role in delivering Hampshire County Council’s Reducing Parental Conflict programme, helping families address challenges early and improve outcomes for children. Working within the Early Help system, you’ll provide high-quality, relationship-based support to children and families, with a focus on strengthening family relationships and reducing the impact of parental conflict.

This is a varied and rewarding role that combines direct work with families with supporting colleagues and partners to build confidence in addressing parental conflict. You’ll help embed consistent, evidence-informed approaches across services, strengthening early intervention and reducing escalation into statutory services.

What you’ll do:

  • Work directly with children and families to identify needs, build on strengths and address parental conflict early.
  • Deliver relationship-based, strengths-focused support that improves outcomes for children and families.
  • Model effective practice and support colleagues and partner agencies to build confidence and skills.
  • Promote a whole-family, early intervention approach across services.
  • Contribute to the delivery and embedding of the Reducing Parental Conflict Programme.
  • Work collaboratively with Family Help Teams and partners to deliver coordinated, outcome-focused support.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience of working directly with children and families, including delivering early help or preventative support.
  • Confidence in engaging families in sensitive conversations in a strengths-based, respectful and non-judgemental way.
  • A strong commitment to relationship-based practice and improving outcomes for children.
  • The ability to support others through modelling good practice, guidance and shared learning.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with professionals and partner agencies.
  • A reflective approach, with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Benefits:

  • Support families at the earliest opportunity and help improve outcomes for children across Hampshire.
  • Play a key role in embedding relationship-based approaches and strengthening early intervention and prevention.
  • Contribute to workforce development while being part of meaningful service change.
  • Access to Health Assured's comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme to support your physical and mental wellbeing, including 24/7 telephone support, a suite of online resources, and legal and financial advice.
