Job Title: Workplace Services & Facilities Team Leader Contract: 18 months Salary: £30,000 per annum Hours per week: 35 hours per week (flexible options considered in line with business needs) Location: This is an onsite role Monday to Thursday (with Friday's worked from home), forming a key part of our business continuity and operational cover, including participation in the on-call rota and working a 35-hour week in line with business needs, which may include weekends and bank holidays. Closing date: 25 May 2026 About the role We are searching for a professional, self-motivated Team Leader to join IOSH within our Workplace Services team. Our head office, The Grange, is the hub of IOSH and within this role you’ll be integral in ensuring the site is maintained to a high standard and the Workplace Services team provides a seamless and consistent service to the wider organisation. In this varied role, no two days will be the same. You’ll have overall responsibility for managing the organisation’s Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) system, deputising in the absence of the Workplace Services Manager and conducting regular review of spend against budget requirements within the team. You will also be responsible for managing the Workplace and Facilities team providing them with support, advice and encouragement in their development by conducting regular 121 meetings, as well as managing the staff rota. You will be responsible for ensuring that all weekly, monthly, and annual building compliance activities are completed and accurately recorded, including fire safety, health and safety, and legionella management, in line with all relevant legislation. You’ll be working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring efficient delivery of a customer focused and cost-effective service, whether you are agreeing terms with a new supplier, resolving an issue with IOSH’s facilities or responding to an emergency situation. Responsibilities will also include contract management, carrying out regular reviews of services and supplier performance to ensure delivery meets agreed standards and provides value for money. What you'll bring To be successful in this role, you’ll have prior experience in leading workplace and facilities teams, providing clear guidance, positive support, and regular one-to-one meetings to help develop and motivate your team. You’ll have a solid understanding of building compliance requirements including fire safety, health & safety, and legionella. Using your excellent organisation and planning skills you will have the ability to lead and monitor planned preventative maintenance programmes. Additionally, you will have strong interpersonal skills and be able to easily build rapport whether it be with colleagues across the business or when liaising with suppliers and organising contractors. Possessing strong administration skills and attention to detail, you will ensure that records are accurate and up to date. You will be resilient when under pressure and be proactive in identifying and resolving operational issues quickly and effectively. Essential criteria Excellent leadership and team management skills particularly developing and coaching a facilities team and developing staff rotas. Experience in ensuring building compliance (e.g. fire checks, health and Safety and legionella). Knowledge and operational understanding of environmental, fire and health and safety best practice and general efficiency initiatives in Workplace Services, Estates and Facilities Management. Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond quickly to operational issues.
