Client:
Our client is a well-respected Property Services Contractor that have been operating for approximately 50 years. They specialise in property alterations and modifications, damage restoration and maintenance projects. They work with Social and Private Housing clients, Property Management Companies, Care Homes, Schools, Councils and Commercial Buildings.
Overview of Role:
Responsible for managing all Health and Safety requirements across the business. Covering multiple sites, you will work with stakeholders to lead, advise and provide governance on all health and safety matters under the CDM Regulations. The focus will be to deliver best practice and excellence through coaching and mentoring to maintain and develop a safety-first and continuous improvement culture, especially within operational teams.
Key Responsibilities:
11. Deliver the strategic plan to ensure Health & Safety is firmly embedded within the culture
12. Track, improve & develop strategies for sustained H&S performance across operations and supply chain
13. Proactively monitor H&S compliance across all sites and implement improvements through utilising the technology available to do this effectively
14. Implement systems of work and support managers to secure meaningful employee involvement
15. Actively ensure the implementation of legal, insurance and corporate standards in relation to H&S compliance
16. Manage reporting and investigation procedures for accidents/incidents to establish root causes and preventative measures
17. Produce statistics and communicate findings/trends to assist in the development of localised improvement plans
18. Provide support in implementing a risk management system. Ensure HSE risks and impacts are appropriately identified
19. Work alongside the rest of the SHEQ Team in ensuring there is an integrated approach with H&S, environmental controls, waste management systems and overall Sustainability strategy
20. As part of the management team, set, monitor, and report on KPI's
21. Bring Health & Safety expertise to discussions and innovations for improvement
22. Act as a technical expert; lead and coach all site teams
23. Support H&S induction for new employees, providing up to date relevant content & also ensure site inductions for all staff, supply chain & clients are in place
24. Develop and implement in-house H&S training with will all relevant stakeholders & Supply Chain where necessary
25. Carry out internal audits of the Integrated Management System & processes measuring performance and driving improvement
26. Carrying out internal and external site inspections to ensure policies and procedures are being properly implemented and adhered to
27. Increase Health & Safety awareness to Managers and Team Members with training techniques and coaching sessions including continual development & delivery of Toolbox Talks
28. Complete weekly/monthly management reports for submission to Directors
29. Be a key driver in delivering the Sustainability Strategy in line with targets
30. Assist in maintaining ISO standards and accreditations and assist in attaining further standards in line with the business' overall strategic direction, particularly in relation to Safe T Cert & ISO 45001 accreditation
The Ideal Person:
31. Must have minimum of 3 years previous experience in a H&S capacity
32. NEBOSH in Construction qualified
33. Member of IOSH
34. Strong knowledge of current legislation
35. Highly competent and capable of delivering H&S targets across a multi-site organisation
36. Experience and knowledge of Quality Standards such ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001
37. Experience developing & implementing new training procedures
38. A full UK driving license is essential
Desirable Criteria:
39. Experience or awareness in Buildings Safety Systems and M&E
40. IT skills & knowledge of Microsoft applications, databases, spreadsheets, and software for reporting purposes
41. Previous experience in working on MTC Maintenance & Improvement contracts / Social Housing and, or Public Sector Government Contracts
