Overview
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Bank Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Garth, a Category B male prison located near Preston. HMP Garth has capacity of around 840, and holds inmates serving sentences of 4 years or more. This is a varied environment where you will gain experience across primary care, including emergency response, working on the wings, clinics, health promotion, and more. This is a clinical role, and we need candidates that are competent in skills such as Venepuncture, ECGs, NEWS2 etc.
Hours: This is a bank role offering flexible hours to cover additional need such as sickness and annual leave
Salary: This position is offered on a bank basis and the hourly rate is £15.25

Main duties
As our new Bank Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
* Ensure continuity of care for all patients, and deliver outstanding care at all times
* Carry out bloods, obs, ECGs etc
* Work across all areas of care, including inpatients, clinics, primary care, health promotion, bloods etc
* Respond to emergency situations as needed
* Work holistically with your patients and other healthcare staff, including nurses, nursing associates, pharmacy etc
* Deliver personalised, non judgemental care, based on patient feedback
* Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics

* Hold a NVQ Level 2 / 3 in Health & Social Care, or equivalent work experience
* Have experience in Venepuncture, ECGs, NEWS2 etc
* Experience in a healthcare environment - hospital, prison or within the community
* Although not essential, your own vehicle would be beneficial due to the location of the site
