There is a vacancy for an Area Organiser in the North Eastern Region. The position will be based initially at the Newcastle Office. The successful applicant will be required to live within a 50 mile radius of the Newcastle Office and it is an essential requirement that he/she holds a full, valid UK driving licence.
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing detailed advice and representation for union members on matters such as employment law, health and safety legislation and union agreements. They will also be required to negotiate with employers on a wide range of issues.
Usdaw is consistently striving to increase its membership figure, therefore, recruiting new members is a major aspect of the job. Self-motivation and the ability to motivate others for recruitment activity are essential.
The commencing salary is £52,352 per annum. In addition to generous customary and Bank Holidays, annual holidays rise to six weeks and two days after five years' qualifying service. A contributory Pension Scheme is also in operation.
