🔧 Mechanical Engineer – Precision Engineering
Location: Taunton (On-site)
Build High-Precision Technology That Powers Real-World Innovation
At Novanta, our technologies sit at the heart of some of the world’s most advanced systems—from life-saving medical devices to next-generation robotics and photonics. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and delivering precision components that enable these innovations to perform at the highest level.
This is a hands-on engineering position where you will work on complex, high-precision components in a collaborative, fast-paced manufacturing environment. If you enjoy taking designs from concept through to production and solving real-world engineering challenges, this is a role where you can make a tangible impact.
What you will be doing:
1. Design and develop precision mechanical components using CAD tools such as SolidWorks
2. Produce detailed engineering drawings, tolerance stacks, and technical documentation to support manufacturing and quality requirements
3. Lead validation activities, from test planning to data analysis and interpretation
4. Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to improve process capability and product performance
5. Drive root cause analysis on complex issues across prototype and production stages
6. Contribute to design reviews, providing clear and practical engineering recommendations
What you will bring:
7. Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
8. Strong experience with precision design, GD&T, and tolerance analysis
9. Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred)
10. Experience working in a precision manufacturing or high-complexity production environment
11. Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capability
12. A hands-on approach and the ability to collaborate across functions
