As an Application Support Engineer, this is a move for someone who wants skills that compound. Youll build proper production change discipline, be trusted to improve how support is done, and be backed to take the lead and challenge weak processes. Youll come out of it with stronger judgement, more confidence, and more responsibility. Youll join a telecoms tech business running a live, high-availability mobile services platform. Uptime matters. Change discipline matters. Youll learn a largely bespoke platform end to end, work peer to peer with customer engineers, and partner with Development and Infrastructure to deliver fixes, upgrades and deployments. This is not end-user IT support. If your background is mainly O365, desktops, device builds, printers, password resets or general office IT, this wont be the right fit. What youll be doing Own live support cases end to end (triage, fix, handover) in a production environment Support Windows Server and Linux services in production (logs, services, config checks, safe restarts) Support IIS-hosted applications (app pools, bindings, certificates, logs) Run patching and maintenance properly (sequencing, validation, rollback thinking, minimal downtime) Troubleshoot across the stack (application vs server vs connectivity dependencies) Investigate connectivity symptoms (DNS, ports, access, VPN/certificates, reachability) and escalate with clear evidence Work with Development and Infrastructure on releases and changes, including deployment support and verification Communicate clearly and calmly with customer engineers in a B2B environment What youll need Proven production support ownership (incidents handled end to end) Hands-on IIS experience in production (certificates, bindings, app pools, logs) Windows Server and Linux production experience Real patching/change window experience with sequencing and rollback thinking Ability to isolate DNS/ports/TLS/reachability issues and escalate with evidence If you cant talk through a real IIS incident and a real patching window youve owned, this wont be the right role. Working pattern & hours: Onsite preferred. Hybrid possible. Youll need to be within easy commute distance of Milton Keynes. MonFri 95 with occasional ad-hoc out-of-hours support when required.
