SEMH Teaching Assistant – South Shore, Blackpool

A welcoming mainstream primary school in South Shore, Blackpool is seeking a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. The school provides a safe and structured setting for pupils aged 4–11 who need additional support with emotional regulation, behaviour, and mental well-being. Staff work closely with each child to build trust, resilience, and confidence—creating a space where learning can truly happen.
Role Details:
* Start Date: ASAP, September
* Contract: Long-term with potential for a permanent position
* Pay: £89–£95 per day (based on experience)
You’ll work alongside teachers and support staff to deliver personalised interventions, both one-to-one and in small groups. These may include emotional literacy sessions, sensory regulation, and creative tasks designed to foster social skills and self-esteem. You’ll also help maintain a calm and consistent environment during lessons, breaks, and transitions.
✅ What We’re Looking For:
* Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience
* Experience working with children with SEMH needs (in any setting)
* A calm, nurturing, and resilient approach
* Strong communication and de-escalation skills
* Understanding of behaviour support strategies and trauma-informed practice
This role is ideal for experienced teaching assistants or psychology graduates looking to make a meaningful impact in a professional setting.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
