The Role:
We are looking for a Lead Test Assurance Engineer to support testing and assurance efforts, ensuring our products and services meet high quality standards across the client’s change and BAU portfolios. This role is within the Test Assurance team, under the Technology Integration and Assurance directorate.
The Technology Integration and Assurance directorate, part of the Service Delivery function, manages end-to-end delivery through structured governance, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to standards for successful operations.
The successful candidate will report to a Test Assurance Manager and will drive test assurance activities across Change and In Life Change BAU portfolios, defining and managing assurance activities during:
* The Pre-Integration Testing (PIT) Phase: defining test approach artefacts, overseeing PIT, ensuring client’s Service Providers are aligned, monitoring and assuring their delivery, collaborating with Service Providers, and navigating governance forums.
* The Systems Integration Testing (SIT) Phase: defining test approach artefacts, overseeing SIT, ensuring alignment with delivery obligations, collaborating with the Systems Integrator, and navigating governance forums.
* The User Integration Testing (UIT) Phase: defining test approach artefacts, liaising with the Systems Integrator and Testing Participants, supporting testing, documenting issues, and reporting progress.
What does the role entail?
The Lead Test Assurance Engineer will work under a Test Assurance Manager to define and deliver testing and assurance activities. The candidate should have experience in testing and assurance, strong technical and communication skills, and a deep understanding of modern testing methodologies and tools.
The key responsibilities include:
* Preparation: supporting requirements validation, reviewing test basis artefacts, developing project artefacts, defining and communicating test approaches, and signing off testing artefacts.
* Execution: defining and delivering test witnessing, reviewing testing issues, managing issue resolution, and supporting testing during User Testing windows.
* Completion: signing off test completion artefacts, developing test completion reports, and presenting testing results to stakeholders.
* Stakeholder Engagement: serving as the primary contact, monitoring and reporting progress, managing risks and issues, developing relationships, and supporting Testing Participants.
Essential Skills and Experience
* 5+ years in testing or test assurance roles, with at least 2 years in lead roles.
* Ability to manage junior resources and deliver activities on time and to quality standards.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Deep knowledge of testing methodologies, frameworks, and best practices.
* Experience in highly regulated environments.
* Proven ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders.
Desirable Skills and Experiences
* Understanding of the Smart Metering and Utilities industries.
* Testing or assurance certifications such as ISTQB Advanced.
* Knowledge of latest trends in testing and assurance.
* Familiarity with AI/ML in testing, DevOps, and continuous testing practices.
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines and iterative delivery methodologies.
