Myles Academy, an Outstanding small Independent Special School, is seeking an experienced and dedicated assistant SENCO to enhance the provision for our students with a range of SEN needs. This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring SENCO who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to ensuring that every young person receives the support they need to succeed.
You will work closely with the SENCO to coordinate and deliver support for students at Myles Academy. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the identification and planning of tailored interventions, supporting individual students, monitoring progress, conducting annual EHCP reviews, PEP's & LAC/CIC's, liaising with teachers and parents and outside agencies, and helping to implement inclusive practices across the school.
The Role:
* Supporting students with a range of SEN needs
* Overseeing EHCP annual reviews and SEND documentation
* Overseeing PEP and LAC/CIC reviews for looked after children and the relevant documentation
* Working closely with teachers to develop high-quality, differentiated teaching strategies
* Monitoring student progress and ensuring appropriate interventions are in place
* Supporting staff with training, guidance and best practice in SEND
* Liaising with parents, carers and external professionals
* Contributing to whole-school improvement and inclusive practice
* Working with the students and Local Authorities to ensure pupils' Post 16 placements are in place when they leave Myles Academy
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Qualified Teacher Status and the appropriate SENCO qualification (Not essential)
* Previous experience working within a SEND or specialist setting
* Previous experience of conducting EHCP reviews and the relevant paperwork (Essential)
* Strong understanding of Autism, ADHD and other SEN needs
* Experience supporting Key Stage 3 and 4 students
* Excellent organisational, leadership and communication skills
* A proactive, compassionate and collaborative approach
* Experience working with SEN pupils in a secondary setting
* Knowledge of SEN processes, EHCP's, and statutory requirements
* A proactive, calm, and solutions-focused approach
* SENCo or Assistant SENCo experience (desirable, not essential)

Salary: Between £26,420 - £35,070 dependent on experience and qualifications.
