Overview
Dementia Nurse Specialist – Care Homes role at NHS Scotland. The post is based in Argyll & Bute and involves improving dementia care across care homes in the region by working with care home teams, families and wider health and social care professionals.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist clinical advice for dementia care in care homes.
* Support education and training for care home staff.
* Lead on quality improvement initiatives to ensure residents living with dementia receive a high standard of care.
* Collaborate with care home teams, families and broader health and social care professionals.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Mental Health or Adult) with current NMC registration.
* Significant experience in dementia care, ideally within care homes or community settings.
* Strong communication, leadership and teaching skills.
* Ability to work independently across a geographically diverse area.
* Commitment to person-centred, rights-based approaches to dementia care.
* Educated to degree level, preferably in a related discipline or evidence of equivalent experience.
* Masters-level knowledge or equivalent recent experience or combination of formal training, recent experience, short courses or self-study.
* In-depth knowledge/understanding of dementia and related challenges.
