The post holder will deliver home visits in order to extend learning and play experiences and sessions for parents and/or children in groups and early years settings.
Responsibilities
* To provide appropriate play and learning experiences for under fours and their parents, both in the home and in early years settings.
* To offer and deliver play resources and materials to parents, modelling good play practice.
* To visit families in their own homes and offer appropriate support in the specific areas of need e.g. play, transitions, Speech and Language, behaviour management.
* To support the wider partnership through the provision of play activities at events/groups/meetings.To support early years groups as directed by the Line Manager.
* To promote Sure Start and encourage parents to participate in other services.To refer families to other Sure Start/Voluntary/Statutory services where appropriate.
* To maintain absolute confidentiality at all times.To be familiar with and operate within Child Protection Procedures.
* To maintain records of visits and provide statistics of work carried out.To be involved in Planning meetings and Sure Start Staff meetings.
* To adhere to Sure Start policies and procedures.Any other duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications
* NVQ Level II in Child Care and Development and GCSE English (or equivalent) at Grades A-C or Level 2 Qualification in Literacy.
* Basic computer skills.Good written and spoken communication skills.
* Candidates must have access to a form of transport which will permit them to meet the requirements of the post in full.
* Parenting experience which can include with your own children.
* One year’s experience of working in a team in either a voluntary or paid capacity.
