Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Therapy Assistant to join our Children's Therapies team across Ashford and SwaleDistricts.The post holders will support children and young people with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) acrosscommunity and education settings, Family Hubs and clinics within a specific district.

This post also requires close collaboration with the Health Visiting team to support the delivery of the Early Language Identification Measure (ELIM)targeted Intervention package, Family Hubs and Early Years Practitioners.


Main duties of the job

Therapy Assistants support clinicians in delivering 'Specialist therapy interventions, and also deliver their own one-to-one and group therapy sessions under the supervision of SLTs.

Therapy Assistants may also be involved in 'Universal' and 'Targeted' work, by working with families and professionals in the community and education settings, by offeringpreventative packages to children and young people, and by rolling out training programmes in collaboration with otherhealth partners.

The role also includes administrative duties such as resource making, follow-up contact with service users, clinical record keeping etc.Specifically, to the post holder's involvement supporting the delivery of the ELIM targeted intervention package, the postholder would need experience:o Working with parents/carers and families of pre-school aged children with SLCNo Coaching and empowering parents/carers to support their child's SLC within the home environment and in everydayactivitieso Using communication skills to work in partnership with parents, Health Visiting and Early years settingso Organise and plan their time to deliver intervention packages flexibly to meet the individual needs and be efficient withrecord keeping.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Evidence of Foundation Degree Level study (Level 5)
* Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy/ GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths)


Experience

* Good experience as a Senior Healthcare worker
* Experience of working as part of a team
* Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of IT packages (E-Pay / E-roster / AT-P / CIS)
* Experience of community environment


Knowledge

* Knowledge of up to date clinical practice
* Understands the role and remit of a Band 4


Skills & Abilities

* Sound communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
* Ability to organise own work
* Ability to use own initiative
