Overview
HM Revenue & Customs is looking for an Assistant Intelligence Officer to join the Risk and Intelligence Service (RIS) and help protect the UK’s financial integrity. The role involves gathering, analysing and delivering high‑impact intelligence to support compliance interventions, law enforcement and international partners across the Cardiff, Gartcosh and Ipswich hubs.
Key Responsibilities
* Receive, assess and record intelligence from the public regarding HMRC fraud via telephone and other communication channels.
* Use internal and external databases to interpret and analyse information, producing clear and actionable intelligence reports for dissemination.
* Handle confidential data with discretion, ensuring compliance with data protection legislation, security protocols and internal policies.
* Deliver excellent customer service, maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, managers and external stakeholders.
* Collaborate within a team environment, contributing to shared goals and supporting others as needed.
* Operate effectively in a dynamic environment, managing conflicting priorities and adapting to changing demands.
* Share ideas and support process enhancements to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
* Undertake telephony work as part of daily responsibilities, handling inbound and outbound calls professionally.

Benefits and Salary
* Salary: £28,016 per annum.
* Pension: HMRC contributes £8,116 towards the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme (28.97% of salary).

* Leave allowance: 25 days, increasing by one day per year of qualifying service up to a maximum of 30 days.
