Job Description:
Job Introduction
Our locations range from purpose-built studios to stately homes and boggy fields. Finding locations and ensuring they’re accessible, safe, and organised is a big job and the responsibility of the Locations department.
Following the success of our West Midlands training scheme last year, BBC Studios Drama Productions are seeking expressions of interest for Trainee Location Assistant opportunities on Father Brown and Sister Boniface.
Eligibility is a requirement of our funding and allows us to offer paid placements. Please ensure you meet the following criteria before submitting an expression of interest:
* Living and based in the West Midlands
* Aged 19 years or over
* Not currently in full or part-time education
Father Brown films in various locations around the Cotswolds, including areas with limited public transport. Successful applicants must be able to reach these locations as part of the training scheme.
Silent Witness shoots in Digbeth. Applicants must ensure they can get to this location as part of the scheme.
Note: Food, travel, and accommodation expenses are not provided.
The Role
The Locations Assistant supports the Locations Manager and the production team. Responsibilities include marshaling areas, fielding queries from the public, preparing and distributing directions, supporting parking arrangements, and maintaining location tidiness.
Location Assistants are usually the first to arrive on location, signposting directions, managing traffic, and the last to leave, ensuring everything is tidy and ready for the next day. This role is ideal for those who enjoy outdoor work and speaking with the public, as they are often the first and only contact for the public.
Progression from this role can lead to becoming a Locations Manager, responsible for securing locations and ensuring access and permissions.
Are you the right candidate?
To succeed in this trainee role, you should have:
* Experience in public-facing roles and comfort speaking to diverse people
* Experience working in teams, communicating, and following directions
* Experience solving problems in environments with conflicting priorities
Dates
Opportunities last 3 to 6 weeks, from April to August 2025.
Diversity Within Our Teams
BBC Studios is committed to diversity and encourages applications from underrepresented groups. We promote equality of opportunity regardless of background. More information on our D&I plan can be found here.
