Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Newham Council for a Project Manager to lead a National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) project to transform the Grade II listed Canning Town Old Library (CTOL), into a new heritage centre for the council’s Heritage Service.

About the Role
The Project Manager is integral to the CTOL project, managing the NLHF elements including preparation and application to NLHF for the Delivery Phase grant, managing new staff and consultants, development of fundraising, commercial and partnership strategies, overseeing development and delivery of communications and engagement plans. The role will work closely with Regeneration colleagues who are managing the capital element of the project.
The post holder will have budget responsibility and be trained in appropriate financial systems to allow you to process payments. The post holder will be expected to effectively keep records and cost reports for a large and financially complex project to multiple stakeholders. The post holder will be line managed by the Arts, Heritage and Events Manager but will be accountable to project governance boards, commensurate with the scale and ambition of the project.

About You
The post holder will be creative, enthusiastic with excellent project management and communications skills. They will bring with them the ability to work comfortably with a variety of people, including residents, Councillors, community groups, cultural stakeholders and consultants.
This role is fixed term initially until December 2025, with the aim to extend until September 2026 (dependent on NLHF Delivery Phase grant funding being successful - the decision of which will be received in December 2025).
The closing date is Sunday 19 May 2024 and interviews are scheduled for the week beginning 27 May 2024.
Due to the timescale of the project, the successful candidate would ideally start by the end of June 2024, but equal consideration will be given to those who have a longer notice period.
Job Responsibilities
The job responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Overseei the management of the NLHF project including learning and engagement, archive and museum activity, partnerships, communications, marketing and branding, recruitment, training, reporting and line management.
Working with external consultants, lead on the preparation and completion of a NLHF Delivery Phase application for submission in the format required by the funder.
Managing consultants, including those delivering the NLHF Delivery Phase application and those delivering the Conservation Plan.
Overseeing registration of the CIO.
Establishing a Steering Group and advisory groups.
Overseeing the Newham Heritage Month 2024 project team and project deliverables, alongside the Arts, Heritage and Events Manager.
Supporting the project team and external consultants to develop and deliver plans including communications, learning and engagement and development.
