SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER

Salary: £40,000 to £55,000 plus benefits
Civil Engineer with 6+ years' experience? This is an opportunity to step into a senior role where you will lead your own projects, take technical ownership and work within a consultancy known for high-quality, buildable design and long-standing client relationships.
You will be based in the Derby office, joining a well-established civil engineering team delivering infrastructure projects across multiple sectors. The work is deliberately varied, ranging from smaller residential schemes through to complex commercial, industrial and large-scale residential developments. You will not be restricted to one sector and will enjoy genuine responsibility across highways, drainage and development infrastructure, with the support of experienced colleagues and clear progression beyond Senior level.
The role
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will take responsibility for the technical and commercial delivery of infrastructure packages from concept through to approval and construction support.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading highways design including S38 and S278 works
* Preparing and reviewing drainage strategies and detailed S104 and S185 designs
* Producing SuDS layouts, earthworks and adoptable infrastructure
* Managing drawings, calculations and technical reports using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and InfoDrainage
* Liaising with clients, local authorities and multidisciplinary teams
* Supporting Flood Risk Assessments and planning submissions
* Mentoring junior engineers and coordinating project delivery
About you
You will ideally have:
* A degree in Civil Engineering
* At least 6 years' UK consultancy experience
* Strong highways and drainage design background
* Confident client-facing and commercial awareness
* A hands-on, organised and proactive approach
