Overview
Stantec, Birmingham, United Kingdom. We are seeking a passionate Environmental Impact Assessment consultant at senior/principal level to support our water sector EIA advice and delivery across the UK and support team growth. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues across the UK and island of Ireland and be responsible for technical oversight and governance for water sector EIA development projects, reporting into our UK&I Environmental Advisory, Assessment and Planning discipline lead. You will work alongside our existing practitioners and support further growth and capability strengthening. You will also have the opportunity to work on a variety of non-EIA projects with significant environmental components.
You can choose to be based in any of our Stantec offices with hybrid working, combining home and in-office work while staying closely connected to colleagues and clients.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic environmental advice and/or EIA delivery (including screening, consultation, scoping and ES delivery) for water sector projects.
* Ensure technical oversight and governance of EIA development, reporting to the UK&I Environmental Advisory, Assessment and Planning discipline lead.
* Collaborate with colleagues across the UK and Ireland to support growth and capability development within the team.
* Lead and mentor multi-disciplinary teams, manage projects and develop environmental strategies for clients.
* Engage with key stakeholders and maintain strong relationships to support successful EIA processes.
* Apply broad EIA technical and legislative knowledge, with depth in one or more environmental areas (e.g., geo-environmental, ecology, archaeology, landscape, acoustics, coastal/marine).
* Lead on projects within the regulated water industry and contribute to delivery of high-quality, innovative solutions for clients.
Qualifications and Experience
* Environmental or related degree; chartered status (e.g., CIWEM, CIEEM, IEMA).
* Strong understanding of the environmental consulting market across the UK and a mix of entrepreneurial and commercial acumen.
* Experience in the regulated water industry and in EIA delivery, including screening, scoping, consultation and ES delivery; familiarity with the DCO process and Strategic Environmental Assessment is helpful but not essential.
* Proven ability to grow and develop environmental teams, mentor staff and lead project teams.
* Ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams and strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
