Our client, based in England, is one of Europe’s leading commercial plant module propagators, specialising in brassicas, lettuce, and leeks. They are recognised for their high-quality products, excellent customer service, and efficient production scheduling — and are now seeking a Mechanical Fitter/Machine Operator to join their dedicated team.
About the Role
The Mechanical Fitter/Machine Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining the seeding and tray wash lines within the production facility. This is a hands-on role requiring mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
* Set up and prepare machinery for different plant batches or varieties.
* Monitor the sowing line to ensure smooth and continuous operation.
* Complete production paperwork accurately and on time.
* Maintain the cleanliness of machinery and the surrounding work area.
* Work closely with the Production Manager and wider team to meet daily targets.
* Follow all safety procedures and operational guidelines.
* Carry out general nursery work during machine downtime or off-season periods.
Requirements
* Good level of English literacy and communication skills.
* Mechanical knowledge and understanding of production machinery.
* Flexibility to assist with general nursery tasks when required.
* Must have or be willing to take the UKVI IELTS (required for visa and licensing compliance).
