Our client, based in England, is one of Europe’s leading commercial plant module propagators, specialising in brassicas, lettuce, and leeks. They are recognised for their high-quality products, excellent customer service, and efficient production scheduling — and are now seeking a Mechanical Fitter/Machine Operator to join their dedicated team. About the Role The Mechanical Fitter/Machine Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining the seeding and tray wash lines within the production facility. This is a hands-on role requiring mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to production efficiency. Key Responsibilities Set up and prepare machinery for different plant batches or varieties. Monitor the sowing line to ensure smooth and continuous operation. Complete production paperwork accurately and on time. Maintain the cleanliness of machinery and the surrounding work area. Work closely with the Production Manager and wider team to meet daily targets. Follow all safety procedures and operational guidelines. Carry out general nursery work during machine downtime or off-season periods. Requirements Good level of English literacy and communication skills. Mechanical knowledge and understanding of production machinery. Flexibility to assist with general nursery tasks when required. Must have or be willing to take the UKVI IELTS (required for visa and licensing compliance).
