NEOS Engineering is recruiting a Workshop Manager for a leading plant hire and maintenance provider. Our client operates a busy and well-established depot maintaining a wide range of heavy plant equipment including excavators, dumpers, rollers, and telehandlers. With a strong reputation for reliability and service excellence, they’re seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead a skilled team of engineers and ensure the smooth operation of all workshop activities.
The Role:
As Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the depot’s engineering operations. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical knowledge, team coordination, and service delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
* Overseeing a team of workshop and field engineers working on heavy plant machinery.
* Managing work schedules, job allocation, and ensuring timely turnaround of repairs and servicing.
* Diagnosing technical issues and providing engineering support as needed.
* Monitoring parts usage, stock levels, and liaising with suppliers.
* Ensuring compliance with health & safety procedures and company standards.
* Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to training and development plans.
* Supporting customer service by ensuring high-quality maintenance and repair standards.
Candidate Requirements:
* Proven experience in a workshop leadership or supervisory role.
* Strong background in servicing and repairing heavy plant machinery (excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers).
* Excellent technical knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
* Confident in planning, prioritising workloads, and managing performance.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
* Familiarity with service systems and job management software is advantageous.
* Full UK driving licence.
Salary & Benefits:
* Basic salary between £50,000 – £55,000 per annum
