Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (Groundworks)
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000
Location: Swindon, Chippenham, Bath and Bristol area
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
The Opportunity:
We're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a solid background in groundworks and civil engineering to join our commercial team. You'll play a key role in managing the financial aspects of multiple residential groundwork packages across the South West. This role suits someone hands-on, commercially astute, and comfortable working at pace across several live sites.
Key Responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor:
* Oversee the commercial management of multiple groundworks packages for residential developments
* Prepare and submit payment applications, valuations, variations, and final accounts
* Monitor project progress and costs, ensuring targets and margins are met
* Procure and manage sub-contract packages
* Produce bills of quantities, cost plans, and schedules of work
* Complete monthly CVRs and financial forecasting
* Handle change control, risk management, and contractual compliance
* Work closely with site teams, engineers, clients, and stakeholders
* Ensure adherence to NEC or JCT contract terms and company procedures
Requirements of the Quantity Surveyor:
* Strong commercial awareness and solid understanding of groundworks
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
* Proficiency in MS Office and QS software (e.g., Excel, Causeway or similar)
* Full UK driving licence (travel to sites and regional offices required)
Desirable:
* Self-motivated and proactive with a problem-solving mindset
* Ability to work independently and as part of a wider commercial team
* Comfortable managing both internal and client-facing responsibilities
* HNC/HND or degree in Quantity Surveying (preferred, not essential)
