You will be joining a Tier 1 contractor based in the Birmingham area operating within the water industry. This multi-accredited and high-profile contractor has a strong pipeline of work in the water industry, delivering wastewater treatment projects directly for Severn Trent Water and offers excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development. Theirmitment to delivering an exceptional standard of work has positioned them as a leader in the industry, and with a strong orderbook of AMP8 works, they are looking to grow their pre-contract team.
This is a full-time remote position with occasional travel to their Birmingham office (2 days per week).
Your new role
As Estimator, your responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting generation of tenders, proposing costs and estimate resources for projects
2. Guide junior estimating team members on projects by promoting best practice.
3. Support the winning of contracts while minimising risk and maximising profit by estimating the costs for tenders, negotiating with suppliers and subcontracts, and supporting value engineering.
4. Contribute to the process of assessing, preparing, validating, adjudication, and final submission of tenders. This includes minimising subcontractor and material costs,municating with design, planning,mercial and bid management functions.
5. Estimate costs in order to meet or exceed customer requirements, including obtaining and negotiating quotes.
6. Build and retainmercial relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, suppliers and subcontractors during the tender and fulfilment process
7. Participate in the handover of the project (PEP) to the fulfilment team (procurement,mercial management, project management etc)
8. Establish and plan the requirements for internal and external resources, in particular identifying and coordinating suppliers and subcontractors
9. Provide regular, accurate and consolidated reports and forecasts.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you must have:
10. Experience estimating within heavy civils, ideally with a main contractor
11. Ability to estimate from first principles
12. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, estimating system software
13. Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
14. Full UK driving licence.
