Job Description:
Head of Cyber Culture and Awareness
London / Staines / Manchester
Permanent – Full Time – Hybrid
We make health happen
At Bupa, our purpose is simple: we help people live longer, healthier, happier lives and make a better world. We do this by improving healthcare access, supporting wellbeing and helping people feel safe and confident in their daily lives. Cyber security is a key part of delivering that mission. When our systems are protected, our people and customers can focus on what matters most: their health.
As our new Head of Cyber Culture and Awareness, you’ll play an important role in shaping how 33,000 colleagues think and behave when it comes to cyber security. You’ll help them understand the risks they face, why cyber security matters and how their everyday actions keep our customers, patients and organisation safe. This means building a culture of confidence, knowledge and trust across a diverse global workforce.
This is a rare chance to influence cyber behaviours across an international healthcare group with a rich mix of professions — from clinicians and call‑centre colleagues to developers, legal teams and senior leaders. Your work will directly contribute to our ambition to be a highly trusted organisation delivering secure, reliable care for everyone.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead and inspire a team of five specialists responsible for our global cyber education, awareness and behavioural change programmes. This includes monthly phishing simulations, awareness campaigns, webinars, e-learning and tailored training for high‑risk user groups such as executives, developers and architects.
You’ll own the strategy and roadmap for cyber and technology risk education, working closely with the Director of Technology GRC to align activity with our broader security goals. You’ll translate complex cyber concepts into accessible content and support colleagues to improve day‑to‑day secure behaviours.
You’ll lead the development of human‑centred elements of our insider‑risk framework, collaborate with legal and compliance teams, and act as a subject matter expert for cyber awareness across the Chief Security and Controls Office. Part of your role will also involve providing clear and timely communications during security incidents.
You’ll measure the impact of awareness campaigns, share insights with senior stakeholders and make data-driven improvements. As a people leader, you’ll champion good governance, nurture talent, encourage innovation and help build a strong professional pathway for those in the Security Culture & Awareness discipline.
What We’re Looking For
1. Strong leadership experience within technology or information security roles and have a track record of creating and delivering cyber training and awareness strategies in large or global organisations.
2. Skilled at designing engaging learning programmes, whether delivered in person or through digital channels, and comfortable translating technical topics into clear, meaningful messages. Experience with frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS or ITIL is beneficial.
3. An excellent communicator who can connect with people at all levels and help them understand why cyber security matters. You’ll be curious about emerging threats and use your knowledge to shape future education and cultural change activities.
4. Passionate about helping people feel confident and empowered to make safe choices at work.
Benefits
Our benefits are designed to make health happen for our people. Viva is our global wellbeing programme and includes all aspects of health – mental, physical, financial, social and environmental. We support flexible working and offer a range of family‑friendly options.
Joining Bupa in this role, you’ll receive:

6. Enhanced pension and life insurance
7. Private medical insurance
8. Access to our health and wellbeing services
9. Discounts on Bupa products and services
