As the Materials Lab Technician, you will be working alongside a market-leading Defence and Aerospace company who are constantly growing and developing. They are always looking to bring on new talents such as yourself and further develop your skills to enable you to grow within the company and industry!
Due to the nature of what you will be working on, you will be required to obtain high level MOD security clearance.
You will be involved in:
* Operate and maintain analytical instruments.
* Perform baseline chemical, mechanical, and thermal tests and document results
* Inspect product samples visually, record findings (defects, dimensional tolerances)
* Perform basic calculations (concentrations, % deviation, etc.) and compile data
* Stock, distribute, and rotate consumables and equipment
* Set up, dismantle, and clean apparatus; wash and store glassware
* Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard‑aware lab environment
* Perform and log calibration checks on instruments
* Identify and raise non‑conformances, facilitating investigations and corrective actions
* Liaise with stakeholders to understand testing priorities
* Knowledge of chemical testing
* Metalogy testing - using microscopes
* Hardness checking - Rockwell and Vickers hardness testing
* Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) accurately
* Ability to manage changing priorities in a dynamic environment
* Experience with SAP or similar systems
* Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency and accuracy
* Logical approach to problem-solving and data interpretation
