Role Overview
The Regional Produce Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing fresh produce supply for the region. Key responsibilities include ensuring high-quality products at competitive prices, maintaining supplier relationships, and staying informed about market trends. The role is crucial in driving the freshness and quality of produce, ensuring customer satisfaction, and supporting regional profitability.
Minimum Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Management, or related field
* 3-5 years’ experience in retail buying/procurement, preferably in FMCG or grocery retail
* Proven success on financial KPIs
* Extensive commercial knowledge
* Knowledge of store operations, category management, and in-store execution
* SAP knowledge is an advantage
Competencies
* Knowledge of buying fundamentals and product costing
* Ability to build recipes and analyze costs from raw materials to packaging
* Analytical skills to identify issues and recommend solutions
* Understanding of commercial levers in food retail
* Financial and commercial acumen
* Judgment, decision-making, negotiation, and influencing skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation skills
Key Responsibilities
* Market Visits: Conduct visits to understand customer needs, gather insights, and identify opportunities.
* Supplier Visits: Build relationships with suppliers, ensure product availability, and identify new supplier opportunities.
* Competition Monitoring: Review competitor activities to adjust strategies.
* Bulk Buying Negotiations: Negotiate deals to achieve cost savings.
* Market Days: Organize regional market days to promote products and engage customers.
* Advertising: Coordinate regional store adverts and weekly promotions aligned with marketing strategies.
* Evaluate merchandising plans and collaborate with store teams to implement category strategies.
* Interact confidently with suppliers, reinforcing company values and strategies.
