About the role:
We are a small and enthusiastic team seeking an experienced and highly motivated demand planning executive to help ensure the smooth flow of stock from factory to customer. The role will involve analysing sales trends and monitoring customer forecasts to create and deliver a demand plan in line with supply constraints to make sure that we always maintain adequate stock levels whilst being mindful of optimising profitability and seeking to create efficiencies on storage costs and cash flow.
The position will require communication with customers and suppliers and will involve the whole of the supply chain process from building & placing orders to communicating with freight forwarders and logistics to ensure that products reach customers on time and in line with their requirements. The successful candidate would need to identify and proactively react to changes in demand, working with suppliers to ensure that our forward stock planning needs are met in the most efficient manner and also to alert the sales teams to any potential trends that they may see emerging. You will need to be data driven, highly analytical and pay great attention to detail.
The position is office based in Burnley and ideally would be 9-5, Monday-Friday however alternative working hours would be considered for the right person.
Other duties around this position:
· Assist the logistics process for inventory maintenance, shipment, delivery, and returns on products.
· Refine and maintain our stock planning system to ensure on time in full delivery to our customers.
· Manage current and long-term forecast projections to support sales and inventory planning goals.
· Periodically identify both slow moving and obsolete stock.
· Determine appropriate levels of inventory to achieve availability levels while minimising working capital requirements.
· Maintain agreed levels of buffer stockholding to cope with variability in customer demand patterns and any supply chain slippage.
· Develop effective communication and processes with transportation and logistics vendors.
· Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and customers.
· Schedule and execute periodic evaluations to ensure vendors are adhering to pricing and quality agreements.
· Take responsibility for understanding retailer delivery requirements, working with the warehouse team to ensure compliance.
· Check shipping documents and freight forwarder invoices for accuracy.
About you:
The successful candidate for this position will be expected to have the below skills and experience:
· Broad knowledge and understanding of demand forecasting and the dependencies around it
· Comprehensive supply chain experience
· Competence with Microsoft Office
· Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
· Confidence in interpreting and manipulating complex data sets and extracting actionable insights
· Be data driven and a confident decision-maker
· Robust organisational skills and the ability to manage critical timelines
· Commercial awareness
· Good communication skills at all levels
· The ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships both internally and with supplier and logistics partners.
