Oaklands Global are currently recruiting a Simulator Engineer – Shift Lead on behalf of one of our clients, a leading provider of advanced flight simulation for the global aviation and defence industries, based in Southeast England. The Shift Lead will provide leadership and training for more Junior Technicians, as well as communication with Flight Crews and Instructor Pilots daily.
This role also acts as the primary lead during a shift, with a focus on the management of others and the resolution of technical issues. The working shift pattern for this role is 4 on 4 off.
Key Responsibilities
1. Report directly to the Training Centre Maintenance Manager (TCMM)
2. Responsible for the day to day running and proactive maintenance for up to four commercial Full Flight Simulators.
3. Perform preventive maintenance tasks on the simulators and associated simulator systems and review/update the procedures in discussion with the TCMM.
4. Take the lead in diagnosing and correcting problems on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
5. Utilise the maintenance management system to record and track maintenance activities.
6. Perform secondary duties e.g. calibrations, tool inspections etc.
7. Perform advanced visual alignments.
8. Carry out repairs in the workshop to include soldering and crimping.
9. Perform logistics duties, including parts received, repair, and testing/validation
10. Check Qualification Test Guide (QTG) results and mark them up.
11. Ensure QSL quality management system processes are adhered to
12. Provide customer service support and address customer needs in a timely manner.
13. Perform housekeeping functions to maintain the simulators as required.
14. Perform logistics duties, including parts received, repair, and testing/validation.
15. Perform administrative tasks as required.
16. Be familiar with Part ORA and CS-FSTD(A) regulations.
Requirements
Essential
17. Detailed understanding of Electrical / Electronic & Avionic systems.
18. Must have experience on both the B AND A simulators.
19. Detailed understanding of fault-finding principles and corrective measures techniques.
20. Working knowledge of hydraulic motion and control loading systems.
21. Working knowledge of electrical motion and control loading systems.
22. Detailed knowledge of simulator visual systems including Rockwell Collins and FSI systems.
23. Knowledge and understanding of hardware, fault finding and repair.
24. Knowledge and understanding of simulation software systems.
25. Proactive completion of Preventative and Routine Maintenance activities.
26. Planning and Approval of Qualification Test Guide (QTG) schedule.
27. Development of QSL processes providing improved efficiency and maintenance delivery.
Desirable
28. Experience of CAE, FSI and/or Sim Industries, TRU, L3 Training Devices
29. Previous Leadership experience
30. Experience gained in a customer support or client facing role
The following qualifications would be a distinct advantage:
31. HNC/HND in aircraft related discipline
32. HNC/HND in Electrical & Electronic Engineering
