Senior Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist

We invite applications for a Senior Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist to join our multidisciplinary foot team at St George's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, one of London’s largest and busiest hospitals. This position offers the chance to work within an innovative and collaborative Diabetes Foot Clinic at the Hub site for South West London, in close partnership with nearby spoke sites.
We seek an enthusiastic, dynamic professional to deliver best‑practice care to patients at high risk of limb loss, supporting senior colleagues and clinic management while integrating into a busy outpatient clinic and bi‑weekly Diabetes Foot MDT. The successful candidate will promote evidence‑based care for a range of diabetes foot conditions, champion the biopsychosocial model of care, and utilise advanced therapies such as topical negative‑pressure therapy, larvae therapy and total contact casting.
Main duties of the job
* Take responsibility as podiatrist in charge in the absence of Band 8 colleagues.
* Provide line management and support to junior team members.
* Commit to a philosophy of care that emphasises patient empowerment and independence.
* Deliver treatment and advice at multiple sites within St George’s Hospital, primarily the diabetic foot outpatient clinic, and also provide inpatient ward cover, A&E and Acute Medical Unit support.
* Lead or participate in clinical audit, service development, patient and staff education, research, trials and publications.
* Present findings at national conferences, attend CPD events and contribute to the development of a diabetes foot network across South West London.

Person specification - Qualifications
* HCPC‑registered podiatrist (DPodM or BSc).
* NHS experience or equivalent, with proficient knowledge of advanced wound‑care management.
* Commitment to personal and professional development.
* Involvement in training and teaching.
* Post‑graduate education or CPD in the diabetes field.
* Working towards an MSc or equivalent.
Experience
* Experience delivering high‑risk treatments and diabetes assessments.
* Broad spectrum of clinical experience.
* Willingness to seek and take advice.
* Awareness of current NHS trends and policies, including clinical governance and NSF’s.
Skills
* Health promotion and biomechanics.
* Effective patient and MDT communication.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Experience managing conflict.
* Experience delivering presentations.

Contract and working pattern
Permanent, full‑time. Flexible working, compressed hours and other working patterns can be discussed at interview.
Remuneration
£58,133 to £65,261 per annum, inclusive of Inner London HCAS.
