We are recruiting a Senior Care Assistant to join a privately owned, stand-alone residential care service in Allendale, Northumberland. Supporting 13 residents with learning disabilities and complex care needs, this is a close-knit, family-run environment where residents’ individuality is celebrated, and staff have time to provide attentive, person-centred care.

About the Service
The service provides:
• Specialist residential care for adults with learning disabilities
• 13 residents, each supported individually in a homely setting
• Long-term placements and short-term respite stays
• Attention to privacy, dignity, and personal choice
• Activities and programmes to support mental alertness, social interaction, and self-esteem
• Opportunities for residents to participate in the development of their individualised care plans
Your Responsibilities
• Provide and oversee high-quality, person-centred care
• Support and mentor care staff on shift
• Assist residents with personal care, mobility, and daily living tasks
• Maintain accurate care records and communicate effectively with families and colleagues
• Promote independence, dignity, and choice
• Engage residents in meaningful activities and social interaction
What We’re Looking For
• Previous care experience, ideally in a residential or specialist setting
• NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Health & Social Care required; Level 3 preferred
• Proven ability to lead and support a small care team
• Compassionate, professional, and reliable approach
• Strong communication, organisational, and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for supporting adults with learning disabilities
