Marlborough Town Council is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic person on a 37hrs permanent basis with an immediate start for the right candidate. Hours to include assisting on a 7am and 4.30pm (Winter), and 7am and 7pm (Summer) gate management rota. Remaining hours to be worked as agreed with the Grounds Manager.

Overall Purpose of the Job
As part of a team, to carry out various duties (as specified below) relating to tidying, day to day management, repairs and maintenance of the Town Council's play areas, open spaces and associated equipment.
Key Tasks - Grounds works (Priority)
* Specifically, to assist in the locking and unlocking of the Priory Gardens as the Council's policy requires, and as instructed by the Grounds Manager
* Carrying out all duties relating to the maintenance of the Town Council's parks, play areas, cemetery, and equipment and undertake any activity (as directed by the Town Clerk, Grounds Manager, or other delegated Officer) for any areas of work on our estate
* General work including litter picking and weed control on all Town Council land and property including clearance of debris from river and woodlands, maintenance of play areas and recreation areas
* Construction labouring work and remedial fencing work as required
* Preparation of sports pitches
* Horticultural operations including hedge trimming, basic arboricultural work, grass cutting, planting, pruning, and seeding
* To assist in the preparation of graves and interments
* Carrying out weed control
* Regular inspections of the Council's play areas
* To assist in the delivery of town council events, including assisting with road closures and road management, signage, waste and litter management, logistics or as required
* In addition to the usual range of tools and equipment, the use of powered hand tools
* Carry out vehicle inspection reports as required, bringing any condition-related issues to the attention of the Grounds Manager
* Responsible for own health and safety and that of others in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, in conjunction with the Council's Health and Safety Officer
* Liaising with the Grounds Team Foreman, or Council office in the absence of the Grounds Manager
* Such other reasonable duties commensurate with the type and level of those duties specified elsewhere within this job description
