The Position
In this role you will be an integral member of our busy Supply Management department. Your professional abilities will enable HBK to optimise purchasing practices through continuous improvement, resulting in reduced working capital investment, whilst ensuring inventory levels remain optimised enabling quickly responses to changing market conditions and customer demands.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Reporting any near miss or potentially hazardous activity within the team to senior management;
2. Positioning of stock and suppliers to support the company's supply chain and requirements;
3. MOQ analysis to ensure the lowest cost to the business vs stock holdings;
4. Supplier delivery adherence and actions plans;
5. Ensuring cost effective and efficient planning, sourcing, buying, and control of the supply chain process in accordance with company procedures;
6. Ensure inventory items are obtained at the lowest total cost necessary to support departmental objectives, contributing to the overall profitability of the company.
Essential Functions & Duties
7. Work closely with R&D, Special Projects, Marketing, Service, Quality, and Manufacturing Operations to ensure that New Product Development objectives are translated into supply chain execution strategies and tactical plans that meet production requirements and the needs of the B&K quality system;
8. Generate initial product COGs estimate and monitor product cost throughout development; communicate progress to cost target as directed. Control product material transition to production; including NPI activities of contract manufacturers;
9. Review BOM and identify/escalate sourcing issues (obsolescence, ROHS, compliance, single/dual source);
10. Control production material deliveries from order placement, resolving supplier delivery issues in terms of immediate actions and instigating corrective actions to ensure similar delays do not occur;
11. Liaise with the Head of Supplier Management to communicate sourcing strategies to engineering and engineering strategies to strategic sourcing;
12. Responsible for improving supplier performance metrics for production related suppliers focusing on OTIF (on-time in-full) delivery, and quality;
13. Point of contact for project team for new and existing special projects;
14. First line support for Supplier Management staff relating to purchasing activities;
15. Be able to cover for the head of the department in terms of meetings, report outs and other activities should the need require.
16. Working closely with suppliers to improve customer – supplier relationships to foster mutual benefits for both parties.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
17. CIPS or equivalent qualified
18. Experience in Supply chain environment
19. Skilled at negotiating and relationship-building
20. Knowledge of MRP principles required
21. Experience working within Lean setting is preferred
22. Proficient in MS office suite
23. Experience in working in an electro mechanical manufacturing environment
