The Role
The Sales Manager is responsible for leading a small direct sales team, planning and implementing sales activities, driving distributor performance and growing the business through new and existing markets.
Key Responsibilities
• Develops and implements strategic sales plans to achieve business objectives for the products and services.
• Develops and recommends product positioning, pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share.
• Achieves satisfactory margins and market share in relation to present standards and industry trends.
• Monitors competitor products, sales and marketing activities.
• Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
• Lead and motivate a small sales team and an international sales distributors network to achieve strategic growth plans and KPI’s.
• Training and coaching the sales team on sales techniques and giving advice.
• Reviews and analyses sales performances against opportunities, quotes and plans to determine effectiveness.
• Monitor and maintain effective working relationships within the business
• Responsible for conducting product research for NPI process
• Reporting on activities towards targets to the company directors.
• Researching potential target industries and customers.
• Attending meetings with customers alongside sales engineers
The Candidate
Degree educated
Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in scientific instrumentation industry, preferably in microscopy or spectroscopy products.
Minimum 2-3 years’ experience of leading a Sales Team and international business partnerships
Experience of trade shows / customer demonstrations.
Excellent command of written and spoken English.
Willing to travel to trade shows, conferences, and customer sites both in the UK and abroad approx. 30% of the time.
Have a positive “can-do” personality, to help manage and motivate the Sales Team.
Right to employment in UK.
Full UK driving licence.
