Hands-on farming role | Animal care | Outdoor work
Do you enjoy practical, hands-on work and have a genuine interest in farming? We have an exciting opportunity to join our small, dedicated team on a well-established free-range egg farm near Witney.
This is a varied and responsible role where you will play an essential part in the daily running of the farm — working both with the hens and in our egg packing centre. Caring for livestock means consistency and reliability are critical, as the hens depend on daily routines and high standards of care.
The Role
As a Farm Worker, your responsibilities will include:
* Daily care and welfare of our free-range hens
* Monitoring flock health and maintaining welfare standards
* Egg collection and supporting production tasks
* Grading and packing eggs in our packing centre
* Supporting general farm duties as required
* Maintaining strict hygiene, biosecurity and food safety standards
This is a physically active role involving outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Reliability & Responsibility
Because this role involves caring for live animals, reliability is essential. We are looking for someone who understands the importance of:
* Being punctual and consistent
* Following daily routines that support animal welfare
* Taking responsibility for completing tasks to a high standard
* Supporting the wider team to ensure smooth daily operations
What We're Looking For
We are seeking someone who:
* Has a genuine interest in farming and animal care
* Has a strong work ethic and enjoys practical work
* Is dependable, responsible and team-focused
* Is comfortable working outdoors year-round
* Has basic maths skills for measurements and calculations
* Has their own transport due to our rural location
* Does not keep poultry or birds (biosecurity requirement)
Previous farming experience is beneficial but not essential — full training will be provided.
Working Hours & Pay
* Typical hours: 8:00am – 5:30pm
* Standard working week: approximately 45 hours
* Weekend work required every alternate weekend (8am - 1pm approx.)
* Minimum salary: £30,500 per year
