This role works flexibly within a dental team, providing high quality care to a wide spectrum of patients across localities within the Dental Service, based at Birmingham Dental Hospital (BDH) and Community Dental Services (CDS), including Mobile Clinics and/or additional external sites as required.
Dental nurses will be provided with a base clinic/department when appointed but will be expected to work flexibly across different sites where dental treatment is provided.
The role includes chair side assistance to clinicians within the dental service, arranging/supporting clinician with any necessary domiciliary visits or visits to external sites, assisting in screening, epidemiology and research programmes, and carrying out clerical and administrative duties to ensure efficient operation of the clinic/department.
Responsibilities
* Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service.
* Provide comprehensive chair side and administrative support to a clinician within all clinical sites across Dental services.
* Prepare and monitor patients for and during their dental treatment, providing pre and post operative instructions as required.
* Undertake the general care of the surgery including dental equipment/instruments (medical devices) and arrange any necessary repairs as required.
* Ensure medical emergency drugs and equipment are available and up to date.
* Provide chair side assistance and postoperative instructions during general anaesthetic and exodontia sessions as required.
* Provide oral health education to patients as required by the clinician.
