Job Title: Pharmacy Technician – Purchasing (Deputy Principal Pharmacy Technician).
Responsibilities
* Assist in planning and development of the pharmacy purchasing service for the Trust.
* Deputise for the Principal Pharmacy Technician – Purchasing.
* Source and order medicines in line with national contracts and frameworks.
* Manage the purchasing aspects of Medicines Shortages, including identifying shortages, keeping up‑to‑date knowledge of supply chain status, and sourcing alternatives (including appropriate unlicensed medicines).
* Communicate and work with pharmacists to manage "Medicines Shortages".
* Review, write and implement policies and Standard Operating Procedures relating to "Medicines Shortages".
* Efficiently and effectively manage Pharmacy Procurement at Northwick Park Hospital.
* Maintain and assist in the development of the Quality Management System for Good Distribution Practice.
* Develop and implement the pharmacy department's e‑commerce strategy.
* Assist in updating and maintaining the pharmacy computer system to ensure its effectiveness and efficiency.
* Assist in training new staff on the pharmacy computer system, ordering and stock control system.
* Manage pharmacy staff, including rotational pharmacy technicians, pharmacy storekeeper and ATOs.
* Promote the wellbeing and safety of patients and carers by acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately, in line with Trust policy and procedures. All posts working with vulnerable groups will be subject to an enhanced criminal records check upon appointment and staff will need to give their consent for the Trust to receive regular updates on their criminal records status throughout their employment.
Qualifications & Requirements
* All applicants must be registered pharmacy technicians with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* Full‑time permanent post.
* Required to participate in the weekend and late night rota.
* Excellent communication skills, friendly, approachable, adaptable and flexible.
* Willing to learn new skills and committed to continuous professional development.
