Overview
A Vacancy at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and innovative pharmacist to work within our existing team of pharmacists and technicians. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate a high standard of patient focused pharmaceutical care, and will rotate around different specialities in the Trust. Working within the Aseptic Unit the post holder will be performing the professional release of products, including CIVAS, PN chemotherapy and immunotherapy, as well as assisting in the management of the Quality Assurance system. You will also work within the clinical pharmacy team, providing specialist pharmaceutical care to various clinical specialities. You will have excellent communication, IT and team working skills and self-motivation to contribute to the development and delivery of the pharmacy service within the Trust. This role will involve development of rotational band 6 early careers pharmacists, trainee pharmacists and pharmacy undergraduate students.
CHFT is a digitally advanced hospital trust - we use Cerner Millenium Electronic Patient record which includes electronic prescribing and administration. We have recently installed a pharmacy dispensing robot at our Calderdale site and are a trailblazing site with the introduction of electronic controlled drug registers (eCDR) which has lead to nomination for a HSJ award. Responsibilities
* Assists in delivering, developing and evaluating the Aseptic Service, ensuring compliance with national standards and statutes and trust policies. Acts an an Authorised Pharmacist for the release of products prepared in the aseptic unit.
* Provides specialist pharmaceutical care to clinical specialties on a rotational basis ensuring effective medicines management and compliance with current standards, statute and trust policies.
* Assists in the maintenance, development and evaluation of the Aseptic Quality Assurance System.
* Supports the Lead for Clinical Pharmacy Services in setting the strategic direction for the department
* Contributes to the development of the annual business plan and strategic planning for the Pharmacy Directorate
* Implements Trust policies in relation to the Clinical Pharmacy Service
* Continually review the quality and standard of service provision through consultation with users of the Clinical Pharmacy Service and makes recommendations for improvement to the Deputy Clinical Director Pharmacy
* Contributes to the development and maintenance of policies, procedures and records for the Clinical Pharmacy Service and medicines management
* Assists Directorates and specialties in controlling drug expenditure
* Ensures the appropriate stock control and storage of materials and safe maintenance of equipment used in the provision of the Clinical Pharmacy services
* Participates in weekend, public holiday and out of hours provision of pharmacy services
* Complies with Trust policies relating to security and patient confidentiality and to ensure that procedures are undertaken within safe systems of work and legislation
Requirements
This role involves rotation around different specialities, a commitment to weekend/bank holiday and out-of-hours duties, and active participation in the development of aseptic and clinical pharmacy services. Suitable candidates will have experience and skills in the professional release of aseptic products, medicines management, and working within a multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the development of rotational early careers pharmacists, trainee pharmacists and pharmacy undergraduate students.
