L3Harris in Brighton are part of Release Systems and the Mission Avionics sector operating in the Aerospace domain. Our mission-critical release systems equipment is on most major airborne fighter platforms worldwide, including the F-35, along with other aircraft like the Gripen and Typhoon. Brighton designs, manufactures and tests a large portion of its release systems portfolio. This facility offers 48,500 square feet of manufacturing space for the development of high-performance, multi-station solutions used to launch air-to-air and air-to-ground munitions from bay, wing or fuselage stations.

What the role will involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
10. Create robust mechanical and electro-mechanical design solutions from concept to production.
11. Generate 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and associated documentation (SolidWorks preferred).
12. Assess design feasibility with respect to functionality, manufacturability, cost, and material selection.
13. Support prototyping, testing, and design validation activities; interpret results and adjust designs accordingly.
14. Develop technical documentation including reports, specifications, and design justification.
15. Collaborate with internal teams (manufacturing, quality, procurement) and external stakeholders (customers, suppliers).
16. Lead or support technical investigations and root cause analysis.
17. Recommend and implement design or process improvements to enhance efficiency and product performance.
18. Provide guidance to less experienced engineers and support design reviews.
19. Maintain configuration control through change management and adherence to company standards.
What you’ll bring
The role requires the following experience and skills:
20. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience
21. HNC/HND or equivalent qualification, with 8+ years of directly relevant design engineering experience
22. Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), including part, assembly, and drawing generation
23. Knowledge of engineering principles, GD&T, BS8888, and tolerance stack-up
24. Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and DFM/DFA principles
25. Experience with PDM and ERP systems
26. Excellent time management, able to prioritise workload across multiple projects
27. Ability to interpret and apply customer specifications and design standards
28. Confident in assisting mechanical engineers presenting and defending design decisions internally and externally.
