Surgical Admissions Lounge is a nurse led department and we strive for excellence and are passionate about the quality of care we deliver to our patients. Due to the gradual restart of services and the ongoing transformation of the department and the elective admissions process, we are looking to recruit a Band 5 nurse to join our team.
You will work as part of the nursing team, ensuring our patients are prepared safely for theatre and receive high standards of care from the very start of their hospital journey. Your main role will be preparing a caseload of patients for surgery, without direct supervision and managing the department in the absence of senior staff.

* Work proactively to ensure that Theatre utilisation is optimised
* Maintain and develop our existing processes
* Promote and deliver a high quality, patient focused service
* Carry out regular auditing to ensure high levels of care are maintained.

Education, Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
* Registered Adult Nurse on NMC register
* Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by NMC
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
* Experience of working on own and in a team within a health care environment/delegating to others within a team/providing supervision to others
Desirable criteria
* Previous/recent experience of working in an acute secondary NHS care setting (can include student placements within the last 12 months
* Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of ongoing professional development/competence
* Meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
* Evidence of ability to practice as a proficient practitioner.
* Evidence of ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, patients and visitors
* Demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality
Desirable criteria
* Good IT skills and an ability to record information electronically
* Competent in a range of clinical skills
* Willingness to undertake expanded practices relevant to the scope of practice required
* Competent in managing the care of a group of patients / shift management and clinical leadership relevant to the practice setting
* Can work effectively as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team
