I am recruiting on behalf of my client for a Quality Engineer to join their engineering operation based in Ferndown. My client is a well-established manufacturing business operating as a one-stop-shop across fabrication, machining, treatments, assembly and finishing, supporting sectors including aerospace, defence, rail, marine, medical, oil and gas, and renewables. This Quality Engineer role sits within a specialist treatments environment, offering the opportunity to develop within a controlled, specification-driven process area. This Quality Engineer role is not being treated as a niche treatments-only hire. While exposure to treatments would be beneficial, the priority is finding a strong Quality Engineer with a solid engineering quality background who can confidently understand specifications, read drawings, manage workload and develop within a specialist environment over time. As a Quality Engineer, you will support a broad range of quality, compliance and technical activities, working closely with multiple departments to ensure standards are maintained and issues are effectively resolved. In this Quality Engineer role, your responsibilities will include: Supporting a varied workload across quality, compliance and technical issues within the treatments area Reviewing and working to customer specifications, engineering requirements and technical documentation Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to support quality and process understanding Managing day-to-day quality issues, ensuring work is prioritised effectively and progressed in line with business needs Supporting the investigation of non-conformances and quality concerns Contributing to root cause and corrective action activity (RCCA) Working closely with planning, estimating, quality, technical and lab teams Assisting with quality records, documentation and general compliance activity Building knowledge of specialist treatments processes and developing into the role over time Supporting continuous improvement and quality best practice within a regulated engineering environmentTo be successful in this Quality Engineer role, you should have: Previous experience as a Quality Engineer or within a similar engineering quality role The ability to understand specifications and work accurately to customer and internal requirements Strong capability in reading and interpreting engineering drawings Good organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload A positive attitude and willingness to learn a specialist engineering discipline A genuine interest in engineering quality and continuous improvement The ability to work effectively across multiple departments RCCA experience would be advantageousDesirable experience for this Quality Engineer role includes: Exposure to metal treatments, surface finishing, plating, anodising, paint, NDT or other special processes Experience within precision engineering or regulated manufacturing environments Aerospace or defence sector experience Familiarity with specification-driven or compliance-heavy manufacturing environmentsThis Quality Engineer role offers: £40,000 – £45,000 salary depending on experience The opportunity to join a well-established engineering business with strong aerospace and defence exposure The chance to work within a specialist technical environment without needing direct treatments experience A strong opportunity for a Quality Engineer to develop into a more specialist process-focused rol If you are a Quality Engineer who can confidently read drawings, understand specifications and is looking to step into a more specialist and technically engaging environment, I would be keen to speak with you.
